Hi everyone,
You may remember that at last season’s Grand Final weekends the LCC conducted Registration Card checks prior to each match commencing. I am led to believe that the pre match card check is actually part of the MDSFA By Laws.
It’s fairly obvious from the number of complaints I receive regarding “mystery players” and various other unusual incidents that the pre match registration card check is not being conducted as it should be. This would seem to be especially so in the case of All Age games. Injuries caused or suffered by/from an ineligible player may not be covered under the Football NSW Insurance Scheme therefore leaving the Coach/Manager/Player or their club liable for costs. I’m sure that none of you would like to see something like that happen.
From this weekend onwards ALL competition teams will conduct card checks prior to the kick off in their matches.
Teams should be directed to take the field five minutes prior to kick off and check the registration card visually against the player in front of them but also against the details listed on the match card. Often players will have a registration card but be listed as someone else on the match card. The MDSFA and LCC would like to ensure that there is no opportunity for people to abuse the system or indulge in cheating. Any Coaches/Managers/Players/Clubs found to be guilty of such practices will be SEVERELY dealt with.
LCC members will be conducting random checks at grounds from this weekend to ensure that the required procedure is being followed.
Please ensure that all of your club’s teams are aware of this requirement.
Please note that referees are not responsible for any action regarding anomalies found during card checks.
Clubs are reminded that, from this weekend onwards, the NO CARD, NO PLAY edict applies.
